In a case that seems more like a movie script than a police log, Delhi Police have apprehended a domestic worker who allegedly orchestrated a major heist and attempted to turn her residence into an impenetrable fortress. The suspect, identified as Rubi, was arrested for allegedly stealing a significant cache of gold jewelry and cash from her employer’s home in the national capital.
A Fortress Guarded by 15 Canines
When investigators tracked Rubi to her village in Uttar Pradesh, they encountered an unexpected obstacle. To prevent authorities and debt collectors from entering her property, the suspect had surrounded her home with approximately 15 aggressive dogs. Neighbors reported that the animals were kept to act as a living security system, creating a “fortress” atmosphere that made an unannounced approach nearly impossible for the local police.
The tactical use of the animals was reportedly a calculated move to buy time. However, Delhi Police, working in coordination with local authorities, managed to bypass the canine perimeter to execute the arrest warrant. The scale of the “security” measures underscored the lengths to which the suspect went to protect her alleged spoils.
The Heist and Subsequent Recovery
The investigation began after a prominent Delhi resident filed a complaint regarding the disappearance of valuables. According to police statements, Rubi had been employed as a domestic help for several months, during which she allegedly gained the trust of the family before making off with gold ornaments and a substantial amount of liquid cash.
Evidence Seized During the Raid
Upon successfully entering the fortified premises, officers recovered a significant portion of the stolen goods. “We have seized several gold necklaces, bangles, and rings, along with a portion of the cash that was reported missing,” a senior police official stated. The suspect had reportedly already begun spending some of the stolen funds to upgrade her rural property, including the maintenance of her large pack of dogs.
Rubi is currently in police custody and faces charges of theft and criminal breach of trust. Investigators are also looking into whether she had any accomplices who helped transport the stolen goods from Delhi to her village. The incident has once again sparked discussions regarding the necessity of thorough police verification for domestic staff in the metropolitan area.
