Local law enforcement officials confirmed on Wednesday that a young woman has been detained after allegedly killing her newborn baby shortly after giving birth in a factory restroom.

The incident took place during the woman’s work shift at a local manufacturing facility. According to preliminary police reports, the 19-year-old, whose identity has been withheld due to the ongoing investigation, went into labor while on duty. She reportedly retreated to the factory’s toilet facilities, where she delivered the infant without medical assistance.
Investigators allege that almost immediately after the birth, the suspect took the life of the newborn.
