In a sharp critique of the Union government’s fiscal policies, Telangana Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has voiced strong opposition to the significant price hike of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders. The Minister characterized the increase—which has seen prices surge by nearly ₹1,000 over a cumulative period—as a “harsh blow” to the backbone of the local food and hospitality economy.
Small Businesses Struggle Under Rising Fuel Costs
The price adjustment, which affects the 19 kg cylinders used primarily in commercial establishments, is expected to have a ripple effect across various sectors. Minister Reddy highlighted that the hardest hit would be the small-scale entrepreneurs, including local cafes, budget hotels, and street-side food vendors.
