Transforming the Workforce: 15 New Training Hubs Announced
In a significant move to modernize the state’s workforce, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the establishment of specialized ‘Labour Addas.’ These centers are designed to act as comprehensive hubs where laborers can gather, receive professional upskilling, and connect with better employment opportunities.
During the initial phase of the project, the government will launch 15 centers across the state. These facilities aim to bridge the gap between traditional manual labor and the evolving technical requirements of the modern industrial landscape. By providing formal training at these common gathering points, the administration hopes to increase the earning potential and social security of the state’s unorganized sector.
Direct Financial Support for Construction Workers
The announcement coincided with a celebratory event marking International Workers’ Day, where the Chief Minister demonstrated the government’s commitment to worker welfare through direct financial intervention. In a poignant ceremony, Naidu distributed checks worth ₹5 lakh each to 35 construction workers, providing a substantial safety net for their families.
Naidu emphasized that the ‘Labour Addas’ would take the government’s support systems directly to the grassroots level. Rather than workers having to navigate complex bureaucracies, these hubs will serve as a one-stop shop for welfare scheme registration and skill certification.
Honoring Excellence: The Shrama Shakti Awards
The event also served as a platform to recognize industrial excellence. The Chief Minister presented the prestigious Shrama Shakti awards to both exemplary individual workers and industrial management teams. These awards highlight the collaborative effort required between labor and management to drive the state’s economic engine.
Addressing the gathering, Naidu reiterated that the dignity of labor is a cornerstone of his administration’s policy. He noted that by integrating technology and formal training into the daily lives of workers, Andhra Pradesh can build a more resilient and skilled economy. The initiative is expected to eventually expand beyond the initial 15 locations, covering all major urban and industrial clusters in the state.
