Allegations of Coercion and Academic Retaliation
The controversy centers on a leaked audio clip that emerged just prior to two significant campus events: a formal farewell ceremony and the inauguration of the Sree Sankara Jayanti celebrations. In the recording, a voice allegedly belonging to a Head of Department (HoD) is heard warning students about the consequences of skipping these gatherings.
According to student representatives, the message implied that faculty members might withdraw academic cooperation if attendance was not satisfactory. This perceived threat to academic support mobilized the student body, leading to claims that the administration was attempting to “stage-manage” a warm reception for the Governor, who has frequently been at odds with various student organizations and the state government.
SFI Leads Campus Demonstration
