In a move highlighting the strict enforcement of administrative duties, authorities in Kalaburagi have suspended a government primary school teacher for failing to report for essential Census-related work. The disciplinary action serves as a stern warning to public employees regarding the prioritization of national duty over personal scheduling.
Immediate Suspension for Non-Compliance
The District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Kalaburagi, Fouzia Taranum, issued the suspension order following reports of the teacher’s persistent absence. The educator, identified as Mr. Kashinath, was stationed at the Government Lower Primary School in the village of Chincholi (H). He had been assigned specific responsibilities related to the ongoing preliminary Census operations and the updating of electoral rolls.
According to official sources, the administration had mandated the attendance of all designated staff for training and field execution. Despite receiving formal notifications to report for duty at the office of the Chincholi Tehsildar, the teacher allegedly remained absent without providing a valid justification or obtaining prior authorization from his superiors.
The Critical Nature of Census and Electoral Work
The Census is a massive logistical undertaking that requires precise coordination among various government departments. Teachers and other state employees are frequently drafted into these roles due to their familiarity with local demographics and administrative processes. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that such duties are mandatory under the provisions of the Census Act and the Representation of the People Act.

During the suspension period, Mr. Kashinath will be required to follow standard procedures, including not leaving the district headquarters without express permission.
