Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subbarayudu, the department is integrating advanced forensic technology with ground-level intelligence to dismantle smuggling networks and identify individual offenders.
Strategic Four-Layer Framework
The newly unveiled plan focuses on a multi-dimensional approach to law enforcement. The first layer involves heightened vigilance at interstate borders and transport hubs to intercept the movement of contraband. The second and third layers focus on localized surveillance and intelligence gathering, specifically targeting known peddlers and distribution hubs within the city and its rural outskirts. The final layer emphasizes rehabilitation and public awareness, ensuring that the demand for illicit substances is reduced alongside the supply.
According to the SP, this structured approach ensures that no part of the narcotics supply chain—from the wholesale transporters to the endpoint consumers—remains unmonitored. By layering these tactics, the police aim to create a “hostile environment” for drug traffickers operating within the temple town and surrounding areas.
Advanced Ganja Testing Kits Deployed
A cornerstone of this new initiative is the introduction of specialized ganja testing kits. These portable diagnostic tools allow officers on the field to immediately verify suspected substances and identify individuals who have recently consumed narcotics. Previously, law enforcement had to rely on time-consuming laboratory results, which often delayed the arrest and processing of offenders.
