During the inauguration of the annual sports meet for village administrative officers (VAOs) in Shivamogga, Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced a significant shift toward digital governance. Addressing a gathering of revenue department employees on Saturday, the minister confirmed that Confidential Reports (CRs) will no longer be handled through physical paperwork, moving instead to a fully online platform starting this year.
Modernizing Revenue Administration
The transition to a digital CR system is part of a broader push to streamline administrative workflows and ensure transparency within the department. Minister Gowda explained that moving these records online would reduce delays and eliminate the logistical hurdles associated with traditional manual filing. This shift is expected to benefit thousands of employees by providing a more efficient tracking system for their professional performance and career progression.

In addition to the policy updates, the minister used the platform to remind village administrative officers of their crucial role as the primary interface between the government and the rural population.
