GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata conducted an extensive field inspection in the Quthbullapur circle on Monday, delivering a firm directive to civic officials regarding the pace of ongoing infrastructure projects. Emphasizing the need for accountability, the Commissioner stated that all development works must be completed within their established deadlines to minimize public inconvenience and ensure the efficient use of municipal resources.
Infrastructure and Road Restoration Under Scrutiny
The inspection covered several critical areas, including the restoration of roads damaged by recent seasonal rains and utility works. Commissioner Kata examined the progress of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) initiatives and local link roads aimed at easing traffic congestion in the rapidly growing northern corridor of the city. She noted that delays in road patchwork and resurfacing have been a point of contention for residents and ordered immediate action to finalize these specific tasks.
Monsoon Preparedness and Drainage Management
With an eye on urban flood management, the Commissioner reviewed the status of desilting operations and the construction of new storm-water drains. During her visit to various residential colonies in Quthbullapur, she interacted with local engineering teams to assess the capacity of existing drainage systems. “Timely execution is not just about meeting a date on a calendar; it is about ensuring that the residents do not face waterlogging issues during the monsoon,” Kata remarked during the walkthrough.
Public Amenities and Sanitation Standards
